Brian E. Schield

Brian E. Schield has more than 25 years of experience in business-related immigration matters. His clients range from large international companies and organizations to individuals and families, with a particular focus on Europe and the Pacific Rim. His immigration work has involved executives, managers, financial personnel, students, research scientists, engineers and other technical and professional occupations, doctors, medical and legal personnel and their families.

Mr. Schield advises clients on all types of business, professional and family-related immigration and visa matters including labor certification processing through the Department of Labor, non-immigrant and immigrant petitions filed with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, and visa applications filed with US consulates abroad. He assists clients in developing their immigration strategy, prepares documentation and oversees processing through US consulates and government agencies. He also represents US businesses in connection with I-9 audits and in defending fines proceedings and prosecutions under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. He has lectured extensively on US immigration policies and procedures over the course of his career.

Mr. Schield’s numerous professional memberships include the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International. He has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer in a survey of his peers each year since 2004.

  • Representing a multinational India-based IT consulting company in processing more than 300 H-1B non-immigrant visas for US facilities in one year.
  • Representing large aerospace organizations in processing H-1B and H-2B non-immigrant petitions.
  • Representing numerous non-US airlines with processing organizational blanket L-1 visa petitions and subsequent consular applications for transfer of personnel to US facilities.
  • Representing several computer peripheral product manufacturers in processing various non-immigrant work visas including E, H, L, TN and the US residency applications for their employees.
  • Representing Fortune 500 companies in the US merger and acquisition matters that affect their non-US workers.
  • Representing non-US companies with their E-1/E-2 registration at US consular posts.
  • Representing multinational pharmaceutical companies in obtaining non-immigrant and immigrant visas based on occupation and profession.
  • Representing a Fortune 500 apparel manufacturer on processing visas for non-US designers and unique talent including O-1 visas for aliens of extraordinary ability.
  • Representing agents and studios in obtaining O and P visas for performing artists, athletes and entertainers.
