In addition to your Belgian Law degree, an LL.M. from a US or UK university is considered a valuable asset. Represent firm clients in civil, commercial, and arbitration matters before state and federal US courts, arbitration panels and international tribunals. Prepare and file motions, pleadings and briefs. Draft legal memoranda and opinions. Advise firm clients and render legal advice on US and Latin American law, including Dominican Republic (D.R.) and Civil Code legal matters. Represent firm clients before US and Latin American state agencies. Advise Latin American clients on issues involving U.S. and Florida law utilizing verbal and written Spanish. Advise U.S. clients on issues of D.R. law and represent U.S. clients before Dominican courts.
Education:
U.S. Juris Doctor degree and equivalent foreign law degree (Licenciatura en Derechos).
Experience:
Two (2) years experience as licensed litigation attorney.
Special Requirements:
Florida Bar; United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida; licensed to practice law in Dominican Republic or other Latin American Jurisdiction; Civil litigation experience in civil law system; international litigation and arbitration experience; and fluency in written and verbal English and Spanish.
