Jim Maiwurm, chair of Squire Sanders, has more than 30 years of experience as a business and transactional lawyer. His work involves the representation of a diverse range of businesses – from technology startups to Fortune 50 manufacturers – in private equity infusions, public offerings and sophisticated domestic and international acquisitions, dispositions, financings and joint ventures.
Mr. Maiwurm brings to his practice a unique business perspective. In addition to management positions within the firm, he served as chair and CEO and led the restructuring of a prominent publicly held international engineering firm. Mr. Maiwurm implemented turnaround initiatives, dealt with clients throughout the world, negotiated and managed major asset dispositions, orchestrated a debt restructuring and built effective relationships with divergent constituencies including bondholders, stockholders, joint venture partners, employees and customers. Mr. Maiwurm has served on the boards of publicly held companies, an ESOP-owned government services provider and a joint venture performing a high-visibility US Department of Energy contract.
Mr. Maiwurm’s legal practice encompasses merger, acquisition and divestiture transactions involving US, Latin American, European and Pacific Rim interests and operations including leveraged buyouts and tender offers, domestic and international joint ventures and strategic alliances, private equity and strategic investments, and financial workouts including debt restructurings and recapitalizations. He also counsels senior management and boards of directors on matters such as corporate governance and disclosure issues, development of acquisition strategies and dealing with financing sources.
Mr. Maiwurm is listed in Who’s Who in America and several other Who’s Who directories. He is active in business, community and nonprofit organizations.
