Squire Patton Boggs has been recognized as one of the world’s leading law firms for cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters by Global Restructuring Review (“GRR”) in its prestigious GRR 100.

Squire Patton Boggs was recognized for its “broad international outlook that has made the restructuring and insolvency group particularly adept at handling cross-border cases, with the practice now subdivided into sections for the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific.”

Global Restructuring Review noted that “the firm has lawyers who carry out restructuring work in 26 offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with full-time restructuring and bankruptcy personnel across the United Kingdom, United States, Paris, Sydney and Tokyo.”

GRR highlighted the Firm’s considerable cross-border restructuring depth and experience by commenting that “the last decade has seen Squire Patton Boggs represent parties in insolvency proceedings in 28 jurisdictions across four continents.”

During the last year the firm has continued to grow its global practice, including:

  • Expanding its Restructuring and Insolvency Practice to over 80 attorneys across 26 different countries;
  • Adding a new team in London, including partners Charlotte Møller and Monika Lorenzo-Perez, new partner Arnaud Moussatoff in Paris; and director Vanessa Stuart into its Restructuring & Insolvency Practice in Manchester; and
  • Advising on approximately 40 cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters in 2022.

Client highlights include:

  • Advising on the Ferrellgas Partners pre-packaged chapter 11 restructuring, honoured as “Turnaround of the Year (Large)” by the Global M&A Network.
  • Serving as issuer and governmental affairs counsel for the US Virgin Islands Department of Finance in connection with closing the refinancing of $1 billion outstanding bond debt secured by federal rum tax proceeds.
  • Advising Sun Securities Limited as creditor on their objection to a substantial restructuring plan of China Fisheries Group (CFG). The proposed plan under English law followed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process in the US.
