Squire Patton Boggs Recognized in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2024

In the newly released 2024 edition of The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Squire Patton Boggs has been recommended in 19 practice areas. There were 51 lawyers achieving recognition for their expertise, two of whom were named in the Hall of Fame, a further five noted as leading individuals, with three lawyers named as a Next Generation Partner.

In the 2024 guide, Squire Patton Boggs has been ranked as a leading firm for Regional International Arbitration in Asia Pacific, noted for its expertise “across the energy, shipping, commodities, and infrastructure sectors, with a renowned energy and gas price review practice.

In Australia, clients praised the firm for being “Commercial, responsive, and outcome driven” and “totally focused on clients’ interests.” The corporate team is “renowned for its ability to navigate cross-border transactions, especially those within the technology, energy, media and life sciences sectors.” and in the real estate sector, the firm is “a strong choice for global retailers, institutional investors and real estate owners and investors.” There is a new ranking for Infrastructure, project and construction, with the team’s “strong capabilities in the energy and mining sectors,” and “front-end construction expertise spanning all forms of construction documentation, project delivery and PPP” highlighted. The firm’s expertise in litigation and arbitration is also recognised, including its “notable strength in construction-related disputes.

With a new ranking in Banking & Finance, the Singapore team has “made an impression in trade and commodities finance, along with ship finance” and is “frequently engaged in structured trade financings, and pre-export, prepayment, receivables and limited recourse structures.” The firm is also recognised for its “cohesive and very hard-working” international arbitration practice, while the Labour & Employment team “has an impressive list of multinational clients from multiple industries that routinely turn to the Singapore office for assistance with high-stakes and highly sensitive issues.” The Commodities & Shipping Group is praised by clients for its “Friendly, approachable, experts in their area with experience of complex cases under their belt which gives us confidence when working with them.

In Tokyo, the Corporate practice is commended for providing clients with “excellent advice” and “flexibility for making contracts” while the Financial Services team is “especially recommended for its expertise in asset finance work in the aviation field” with “experience in structured finance transactions, Japanese leveraged leases, and Japanese operating leases.
