Lubos Tichý

Luboš Tichý focuses on Czech and European law, in particular antitrust and arbitration.

Dr. Tichý has advised the Czech Ministry of Privatization and Industry on privatization policies and has represented many state-owned enterprises and private non-Czech-Republic-based corporations on business transactions in both the Czech and Slovak Republics. His vast experience in this field includes the privatization of the national phone company of the Czech Republic and representation of the Czech Republic before arbitral tribunals.

Dr. Tichý has been widely published in legal journals. In addition to his research and lecturing fellowships at institutions abroad, he retains his position as professor on the faculty at Univerzita Karlova Law School, where he chairs the Centre for Comparative Law and has taught European, civil and antitrust law since 1993.

Dr. Tichý was formerly employed by the Federal Legislative Council of Czechoslovakia and his previous employment history includes serving as a legal adviser to the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and adviser to the president of the Czech National Counsel. He is the former president of the Czech Bar Association.

He was ranked in the top band of Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers 2009 in dispute resolution and was also highly recommended in that practice in the 2009 edition of Practical Law Company’s (PLC) Which Lawyer? Yearbook. The PLC publication also listed him as a recommended lawyer in telecommunications. Dr. Tichý was also named a practice area expert in European Legal Experts 2009.
